Liam Doherty

Managing Director

EXPERIENCE

Having qualified as a solicitor, I worked at an international law firm for 8 years. After a career change in 2016, I joined Marpol in a Commercial Director role. I was appointed Managing Director in March 2019, prior to leading an MBO of the business in August 2019.

DAY TO DAY ROLE

As Managing Director, I have ultimate responsibility for the overall strategic direction of the business. I also enjoy client management duties for a number of our key accounts.

INTERESTS

When I’m not in the office, I can usually be found hacking clearances into row Z for a local football club, or trying to find wayward drives in the trees surrounding local golf courses.

Jordan Mornington

Commercial Director

EXPERIENCE

Having initially qualified as a Solicitor and later working within the business side of professional football, I have worked in a number of commercial roles; either as business owner or business development manager. Liam and I purchased Marpol in August 2019 as part of an MBO.

DAY TO DAY ROLE

As Commercial Director, I focus on the client facing aspects of the business. This incorporates our marketing, sales, business development, client management and commercial partnerships.

INTERESTS

Outside of work, I can usually be found at the local football club, trying to score more goals than Liam lets in!

Neil Balmer

Business Service Manager

EXPERIENCE

A Business Service Manager with a wealth of experience in the challenging & competitive security industry. I have previously had the experience of managing a Control Room and Business Analytics Dept. for a company with an annual turnover of £135M.

DAY TO DAY ROLE

Neil has day to day focus on client relationships, both new & existing. He takes great pride delivering an exceptional quality of service, to retain and expand Marpol’s customer base. This includes an interest in the latest innovations in security solutions.

He enjoys finding solutions to complex challenges and the strategic use of information to track performance, complete statistical analysis and provide updates to the wider business audience (via suitable KPIs).

INTERESTS

I am a keen golfer and enjoy travelling to many different courses. I also have an overwhelming passion for Manchester United and go the game as often as I can.

Artur Nowak

Operations Manager

EXPERIENCE

I have worked in the security industry for over 20 years, the last 10 being at Marpol. Prior to professional security, I was a soldier in the military.

DAY TO DAY ROLE

As Operations Manager, I oversee our drivers and mobile patrols. These key services include alarm response, key holding and Open & Unlocks for commercial premises. Such duties entail existing client management and security assessments for new clients.

INTERESTS

Outside of work, I enjoy the gym and compete to an elite standard in Body Building.

Michael Brown

Contracts Manager

EXPERIENCE

I have worked in the security industry for 6 years. Prior to joining Marpol, I spent 5 years in the British Armed Forces, completing 2 tours of duty overseas.

DAY TO DAY ROLE

I manage over 150 security staff, dealing with queries, requests and welfare. I look after new and existing clients, developing and deploying security solutions to best cater for their needs. This involves completing security assessments; to outline and combat security any risks. I also work closely with Operations, ensuring each individual security solution is deployed and monitored correctly, and to clients specifications.

INTERESTS

I actively take part in combat sports, competing in team events across the North West.

Jacob Vestergaard

Operations Coordinator

EXPERIENCE

Before joining Marpol I recently graduated from the University of Liverpool with a degree in architecture. I have used the skills I learnt in problem solving and organisation and transferred them over to my role at Marpol.

DAY TO DAY ROLE

My day-to-day role at Marpol involves providing clients with regular updates on their properties which we are keeping secure. I also support the managers in their day-to-day roles of organising employees, visiting sites and ensuring that high standards are maintained across the company.

INTERESTS

Outside of work I enjoy playing sports and following Manchester United, just like Neil. I also try and find the time to disturb the neighbours playing my drums.

Rob O’Donnell

Mobile Services Manager

EXPERIENCE

Prior to joining Marpol, I spent 14 years as a professional rugby player and then a couple of years as a Personal Trainer/Strength & Conditioning Coach. I was able to develop an array of skills that have been easily transferred over into the security industry.

DAY TO DAY ROLE

I assist the highest standards of service delivery to Marpol’s key clients. This includes the latest in security technology, such as the deployment of bespoke QR code patrol routes on sites and installation of covert trackers on high value goods/assets. 

I regularly interact with clients via in person site assessments and daily reporting. To ensure our security solutions are up to date and comprehensive.

INTERESTS

Away from work, I enjoy going to the gym and keeping an eye on how my previous rugby teams are performing.

Mark Rothwell

Rostering Manager

EXPERIENCE

Having initially joined Marpol as a guard in 2009, I soon progressed to working in the Control Room. For a number of years I combined shifts in Control with shifts as a Mobile Supervisor. This gave me insight into the full breadth of the business.

In 2020 I was delighted to be appointed Control Room Manager, and now in 2022 I am Rostering Manager.

DAY TO DAY ROLE

My role as the Control Room manager was to encompasses the oversight of the full range of Control Room operations. This included CCTV and alarm monitoring, drafting daily reports to colleagues and clients, rostering the guarding staff and much more! I had responsibility for managing a team of six controllers.

INTERESTS

Outside of work my interests include spending time with my family, watching football and going to the gym.

Mark Bolland

Service Delivery Manager

EXPERIENCE

I have worked for Marpol for over 3 years, starting as a Mobile Supervisor, working up to senior supervisor, and then into my current role, as the Service Delivery Manager.

I started my career in Security with Marpol and have thoroughly enjoyed the role, developing my expertise over time, in both risk and operations management.

DAY TO DAY ROLE

As Service Delivery Manager, my primary role is to manage the Mobile Supervisor team; making sure that all aspects of mobile services run smoothly, and there is also a clear line of communication between the Mobile Supervisors and the wider management team.

I will assist in service delivery to clients and also manage new opportunities and new client relationships.

INTERESTS

Outside of work I like to keep physical, training in the gym and hiking when I get the opportunity.

Jamie Appleyard

Operations Coordinator

EXPERIENCE

I have worked in the security industry for over 5 years. Moving from front line to management in that time I have found a place in the industry utilising my passion for business systems and software development/application to enhance the quality of security service provision for hundreds of front-line staff and I am continuing to develop my physical security knowledge as I aim to complete my ASIS PSP exam this year.

DAY TO DAY ROLE

As an Operations Coordinator I am responsible for ensuring the smooth running and continued development of our front-line services, managing the upkeep of quality standards and improvement of operational effectiveness and efficiency using innovative systems, tools and technologies applied to a variety of areas from recruitment and screening to data analyses, training and control room operations ultimately adding value for the client and the business.

INTERESTS

In my down time I like to get outdoors and explore new places bringing friends along on walks I have sold as being ‘short’. I enjoy reading and doing research and often find myself diving into abstract topics.

Luke Williams

Financial Controller

EXPERIENCE

I began working for Marpol Security in 2004, initially as Accounts Assistant and Vetting Officer. After working my way up to Credit Control Manager at the Company, I made the decision to continue further education, attending Night School to obtain my AAT Accounting Qualification, successfully completing AAT Level 4 in 2015 (whilst somehow also managing to win ‘Student of The Year’ in two of the three years attended!).

DAY TO DAY ROLE

I oversee all aspects of the day-to-day Finance and Accounting Functions of the Company.

INTERESTS

Live music. My Family. Football (COYS!)

Beth Kennedy

HR & Office Manager

EXPERIENCE

Having graduated with an English degree in 2012 from the University of Chester, I developed managerial skills leading people teams in the legal sector before joining Marpol in 2019. Committing to progress my HR practice led me to achieve CIPD Level 7 status through St Helens college in 2022.

DAY TO DAY ROLE

As well as overseeing the day-to-day running of our office, I support the operations and senior staff with office functions from procurement to HR. I also collaborate on projects for securing future business.

INTERESTS

Outside of work I love my weekly yoga practice and enjoy cooking, reading, being outdoors and socialising with my circle of friends and family.

Chloe Taylor

Administration Assistant

EXPERIENCE

Prior to working with Marpol, I studied Health and Social Care, Business and Digital Media at college. This is where I learnt the basics aspects of administration and whilst working with Marpol I have developed a wide variety of skills and I am continuously learning about the security industry!

DAY TO DAY ROLE

My day-to-day role is maintaining subject access requests, preliminary phone calls with potential employees, recording holiday request and issuing uniform items. I also support Beth with the screening and vetting of candidates and the maintenance of employee files.

INTERESTS

Outside of work I enjoy socialising with my friends and family, travelling as often as I can and long walks with my dog!
