In recent weeks, many of the UK’s largest retail outlets (including the Big Four supermarkets of Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, and Morrisons) have been introducing stricter measures to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus. This has included the mandatory wearing of face masks in-store, as well as limiting the number of clients on the premises at any one time, and encouraging proper social distancing of six feet (2m).
Naturally, as these major companies impose these measures on their clientele other, smaller retailers are following suit. It is a reasonable reaction, as their smaller premises mean a more enclosed space and, as such, a greater risk of transmission.
But how can retailers enforce these new measures in their stores? Here at Marpol Security, we provide fully-trained and highly-experienced security professionals to retail stores across the UK.
Here is just a sample of what we can offer.
Customer supervision
Whether your store is mandating the use of masks, hand sanitiser, or both, you need somebody at the entrance to ensure the rules are being observed. Our retail security guards are prepared to challenge anybody not wearing a mask or refusing to sanitise their hands. Should they have an exemption, the matter will not be pressed any further. If they otherwise refuse, they will be gently – but firmly – escorted out of the shop.
Queue control
Reduced numbers of customers in-store at any one time will likely lead to queuing outside of the shop. Our retail security guards will direct foot traffic in and out of the store, using click-counters to make sure your shop does not breach maximum occupancy.
Fully-licensed Security Personnel
All our retail security guards bring years of experience in the industry with them to every job. They act professionally under all circumstances to ensure the safety of your customers and employees alike. They understand that this is a trying time for many and that some will consider these new safety measures an infringement on their liberty. Should a customer refuse to cooperate and attempt to cause a disturbance, our security guards have the experience to expel them from the premises.
